Debug is the name of the Level Theme that was used in Texture Demo 1, a test level made specifically for the purpose of showcasing these textures. These textures therefore were designed to be included in other texture sets, often with one or two being added to an otherwise vanilla WAD.
The textures were edited using a program known as the Quake Texture Workshop, made by the editor of the Debug Level Theme, Bryan Gibson-Winge. Due to the limitations of the program, they were created at the scale of 128x128, which is far too large (normal textures tend to be 64x64). Furthermore, the textures had issues if shrunk, since they could become grainy.
