Darmack is the second level of Dark Terror. This level features a starting room that sinks into a pool of Water and a Silver Key suspended on a platform over a pool of Lava which in turn is suspended over a pool of Water.
The player must search for the Silver Key in order to proceed. This level brings back the Rotfish, Grunt, Death Knight, and Shambler.
Quick Level Completion
- Wait for the room to flood with Water.
- Go through the hole in the ceiling in the upper left corner of the room.
- Turn around, then proceed forward to exit the structure.
- Wait for the structure to lower into the Water.
- Swim forward to reach the far wall.
- Swim down towards two pipes.
- Swim through either pipe, then turn around.
- Ignore the pipe straight ahead and instead go through the pipe to the left/right.
- At the end of the new pipe, swim straight up.
- Turn left and exit the Water.
- Go through the Door straight ahead.
- Follow the corridor around to the right.
- Go up the ramp straight ahead, then turn left at the top.
- Proceed forward to an intersection, then turn left.
- Follow the wooden platform to the far wall, then turn right.
- Press the Button, then turn around and drop off the wooden platform.
- Proceed forward to return to the start of the ramp.
- Turn left and pass the ramp.
- Turn right and go through the doorway of the lowered Bars.
- Wait for the Moving Platform to come near you, then jump onto it.
- Jump to the central platform to reach the Silver Key.
- Return to the lowered Bars, then turn right.
- Proceed forward to the end of the corridor.
- Go through the Silver Door to the left.
- Proceed forward across the bridge, then turn left.
- Go up the staircase, then turn right and ascend the second flight of stairs.
- Proceed forward to exit the level.
Walkthrough
E1M2 - Darmack
The room that you spawn into appears to have no possible exit. Wait twenty-one seconds and the room will start filling with Water. Turn around to collect the Shells and Double-Barrelled Shotgun on top of the Crates. Turn around once more and go through the hole in the ceiling on the upper left side of the room. Turn around at the top, then quickly proceed down the corridor before it is entirely under the Water. Turn left after exiting the structure to kill a Grunt on an alcove above the Water. Drop onto the alcove while the starting room continues to lower to collect 2 Shells. Turn left and drop into the Water. Kill the 5 Rotfish if they get in your way, otherwise save them for later. You need to race the starting room before it reaches the bottom of the pool of Water. Go underneath the starting room to collect the Super Nailgun and 3 Nails, then head back to the surface before the starting room crushes you. Dive into the Water once more to kill any of the 5 Rotfish you previously ignored. Collect the Yellow Armor between the two pipes that are directly beneath you. Swim into either of the pipes, they connect further up. Turn around in whichever pipe you chose to see an intersection. The pipe straight ahead is the one you did not choose earlier, so instead go through the pipe to the left or right depending on the pipe you previously chose. At the end of the new section of pipe, swim straight up to enter the next room. Kill the Grunt to the right, then leave the Water to collect the Shells beside the Grunt. Turn around and pass the pool of Water to reach the opposite side of the room. Collect the 2 Shells, then go through the Door straight ahead.
Follow the corridor as it bends around to the right, then kill the Death Knight. Proceed forward, then go through the first doorway on your left. Cross the corridor and continue underneath a balcony. Collect the Shells beside the first support structure, then turn right. Proceed underneath the balcony to collect the 2 Shells and Nails while killing a Death Knight. Turn right at the end of the corridor, then continue forward past a ramp. Ignore this ramp and instead proceed forward to reach another corridor. Ignore the passageway to the left, instead turning right. Collect the 2 Nails under a wooden ramp. The Bars to the left overlook the Silver Key. Continuing forward, past the ramp, would lead back to the start of the corridor where you encountered the first Death Knight. Instead, go through the doorway to the right. Collect the two 25 Health under the wooden structure to the right, then continue forward past the support structure to collect a Quad Damage Return to the last previously ignored corridor and head down it. The Silver Door is to to the left at the end of the corridor, so instead turn right. Kill the Shambler. Continuing down this passageway and then heading down the corridor to the right would lead to a set of Bars. Instead, ascend the ramp near the elongated balcony. Turn left at the top, then proceed forward to an intersection. The passageway to the left crosses the Quad Damage room and leads to the ramp near the Silver Key Bars, so instead continue forward. Just after the intersection is an indented Wall on the right side, hit this to access a small alcove (#1). Continue forward to collect a 25 Health, then turn right to kill an Ogre. Press the Button to receive the message - "The Gates have opened".
Return to either set of Bars, both of which have been lowered to allow access into the next room. The room is filled with a large pool of Water. Suspended over this is a smaller pool of Lava and fire. Suspended in the middle of the room is the Silver Key. Jump onto the Moving Platform that skims the outer edge of the room when it passes by your position. Kill the 3 Scrags that spawn when you enter the room. Shoot the Wall on the far side of the room from the Bars to open up an alcove (#2). Jump onto the center platform to collect the Silver Key. Jump over the pit of Lava into the Water below, then collect the two 25 Health on the side nearest the Bars. Go through the Teleporter in the middle of the Water to return to the lowered Bars near the ramp. Return to the Silver Door and go through it. Proceed forward onto a bridge. Turn left to the Ogre in the dark ledge, then turn right to kill another Ogre in a dark ledge. Look over the bridge to see the pool of Lava below. You should also see a ledge that can be dropped to (#3). Turn left and follow the bridge to the opposite end. Turn left, then ascend the staircase. Turn right at the top, then go up the second flight of stairs. Kill the Death Knight to the left and Death Knight to the right, then go through the Doors straight ahead. Proceed down the End Tunnel to exit the level.
