Electric Track (or Track for short), is a conduit for Strogg train-style vehicles. They are usually found in an active state (indicated by glowing red), and the player must be careful not to touch them in this state or you'll be killed instantly. However, there is sometimes a way to disable the tracks - such as by removing a nearby Power Cube. If deactivated in such a way, they'll stop glowing and are safe to walk on. It is necessary to do this in the Supply Station in Unit 2 of Quake II, and it can also be done in the Eastern Warehouse in Ground Zero to find a secret area.
In Ground Zero they are also found as conveyor systems for containers of radioactive waste. Sometimes they will temporarily become active as the containers move, then deactivate, then activate again; if the player needs to walk over them, it's only safe to do so when they're deactivated.
