Eternal War: Shadows of Light is a Christain-themed stand-alone total conversion for Quake by Two Guys Software, Ltd. released on December 11, 2002. It builds on the gameplay of Quake with additional features and gameplay modes and uses models from the popular Quake 2: Dawn of Darkness mod by WardSix Entertainment.

Story[]

The story surrounds a troubled teeanger named John Coronado who is considering suicide as he is tormented by his inner "personal hell." He calls to God to save him from his fate, and is delivered Mike, implied to be an angel (in the manual he is referred to as a friend). The player embodies Mike as he seeks to purify John's inner demons and set him on a brighter path.

Gameplay[]

The game features seventeen levels that are compatible with single or co-opeative play and feature a medieval fantasy setting. An additional gameplay mode called Flood is included, focused on multiplayer although bots are available, which functions as a horde mode involving fighting off numerous demons and sealing the gates they are escaping from. A special ability is praying, which will restore full health. The player can not fight while doing so, but is protected by a spiritual shield that banishes those that attack him.

Weapons[]

The game features eight weapons similar to those of Quake, but include medieval weapons and manna powered spells.

  • Dagger
  • Crossbow
  • Sword
  • Smite Spell
  • Trinity Blast

These weapons all have alternate fires, which inflict more damage at the cost of more ammo.

Enemies[]

Most enemies have unique abilities and special attacks.
