Lieutenant Hollenbeck is a character featured in Quake IV. He is a member of Viper Squad in the Space Marine Corps and participates in the Second Invasion of Stroggos.
Biography
Second Invasion of Stroggos
Hollenbeck takes command of the Marines in the Data Storage Tower after a certain Captain Mirith, who was supposed to run the show, was ambushed in his Drop Pod and subsequently killed. Shortly after Corporal Kane has left his Drop Pod, he orders the Marines to regroup. When Kane locates Hollenbeck, Hollenbeck informs Second Lieutenant Morris and is assured Kane is a fine Marine despite his looks. He orders Kane to head down the distribution to reactivate the torso storage devices in order to restore the majority of the power of the Data Storage Tower.
He is seen again at the top of the elevator leading down to the distribution after Kane has reactivated the torso storage devices. This time, he orders Kane to open the hangar doors of the tower to let a Dropship with Marines from Badger Squad land. When Kane enters the next room, the room where he had picked up the Dark Matter Gun, he encounters two Berserkers at the same time. Hollenbeck joins the fight and may be killed if they are not eliminated quickly. If he survives, he will remain at his location.
Trivia
- For a Lieutenant with presumably at least a few years of experience, it is odd how sluggishly he joins the fight against the two Berserkers. If Kane does not distract them, Hollenbeck is almost guaranteed to be killed because he runs straight at them and tries to fight them at close range. This is the opposite of how one should be fought and one would expect him to have acquired this knowledge by now.
