The Inner Compound is the second level of Unit 2 of The Reckoning. Some of the Strogg's intelligence operations take place within this facility. It houses a laboratory section and a small storage area.

The entrance to the Intelligence Center has been sealed and the security has been alerted. Therefore, Joker would have to find an alternate route, through the Warehouse. Some of the critical systems have been shut down, however, therefore he would have to make a slight detour and take out a gang of Gekks in the mountains of Stroggos, then collect a few Power Cubes in the Core Reactor.

This level marks the first appearance of the Beta Class Brains (although in the 2023 remaster, they are now the same as Brains that would be encountered in the Quake II campaign) and the Laser Guard.

Secrets

  • #1) In the giant laser room, before activating the laser, leap up on the crates next to the computer console and then onto the upper ledge to reveal a floor switch. Step on it to open a compartment with a Quad Damage power-up inside. If you neglect to do this before activating the laser (which destroys the crates) it's still possible to grenade jump your way up.
  • #2) When you raise the laser, drop into the room it rose from. One of the walls will open when you get close, taking you to a suit of Combat Armor.
  • #3) When you reach the outdoor area, turn back and find a flickering light just up the stairs. Jump up and hit your head into it to lift up the stairs and reveal some Adrenaline.
  • #4) Right outside the very same door, there is some rubble in the corner. You can jump up on one of the pieces, and get up to a ledge surrounding the building. Follow it to find some Megahealth.
  • #5) In the water, near the Super Shotgun, there is a hidden cave with a Silencer inside.
