Hi, welcome to QuakeWiki! Thanks for your edit to the E1M3: The Necropolis page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Raadec (Talk) 23:55, April 13, 2011

Just popping by to say THANKYOU for being here and sorting out the Level pages. Both me and Raadec are grateful you are here and we would very much like for you to coninue your work.

I am glad to help, and will be sure to continue editing. Thanks for noticing Deathstalker666 18:52, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Zombie (Q1) Edit

I can't think of why Toxic locked that page but I've unlocked it now, thanks for pointing this out. There may or may not be a few more locked pages but just tell me as you find them. We had a problem a year ago when QuakeWiki was locked down due to spam before I arrived.

As for asking about it on the Main Page Talk, you are best of asking via one of the administrators talk pages. I'll be able to get back to you and sort out any problems alot quicker this way.

Game Quotes Edit

Hi there.

Could you use the "{{Quote|" tool for quotes from games, for example the Official Manual Story from Quake and Exit message. It just looks alot neater than that boxed text currently in place. I can change these examples my self now, but just a hint for the future.

Thanks, keep up the brilliant work.

--Raadec 20:56, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Sure! I hadn't even thought about Quote at the time, but it would work perfectly. Deathstalker666 21:00, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Is this glitch fixable? Edit

I'm afraid I do not know what you are talking about, thus I am unable to help. Your could try asking Toxic because he knows alot more about this kind of thing.

--Raadec 07:34, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

I will when I get some more information on this glitch. Right now I am starting to wonder if it is just a certain computer, as this one appears to be working fine so far. If so it is a computer problem, and I will have to figure it out for myself. I thought it was multiple computers, but the other computer I thought didn't work so far has worked. Sorry I was terrible at explaining. But if I do find anything here, I shall send Toxic a message about it Deathstalker666 20:06, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Spiked Sphere? Edit

Hi, Just thought if you could spare a moment. I am currently revamping the pages related to Shub-Niggurath. I was woundering if you had any ideas for what to call the spiked sphere which you use to kill Shub-Niggurath. There is no proper name for it as far as I know. Spiked Sphere will do if we can't think of anything else to call it.

--Raadec 19:37, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

How about Teleportable Sphere, due to the fact of its property? I looked it up in the files, and it is known as Teleporttrain. Not much help from that source. Deathstalker666 19:42, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Re:Spiked Sphere Edit

Well if that's what the game files call it, then that will do.

Thanks for your help.

--Raadec 19:47, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

500 Edits Edit

Hey, tis Toxic again. First me and Raadec are happy with you edits and the videos you recently put up so many thanks for that. I was just wondering that when you finally reached 500 edits if you would like a ribbon on your user page, like the ones me and raadec have. If yes i'l put it on your user page when you get 500 edits and theres also one for 1000 edits

Happy editing

Re:The Quake 1 Page Edit

Yeh, I've been looking for thumbnail type pictures like I used for the monsters. But soon I will just settle with anything and have to accept not having the black background like I made with the Icon Links on the Mainpage. I will get round to it very soon.

I also plan on doing the same with Quake II.

--Raadec 17:52, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Those are actully quite good. If I spend a little time with them, I could make them perfect. Did you say they have pictures of Quake II weapons too?

Thanks for your help.

--Raadec 18:17, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Quake II Edit

I'm guessing from what your user page says, your only Quake game is #1. That's cool. Quake II was my first Quake I got as a kid in 97. I then got Quake III when that came out. I didn't get Quake until a few years ago.

How come you never got Quake II?

--Raadec 01:37, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Quake 2Ar & Shub-Niggurath seems to be a medieval level Edit

I found your writing quite interesting so here’s a little something for you. Unlike you, I’ve been into FPS for many years. My first FPS was when I got ‘Quake II’ and ‘Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II’ when I was a kid (1997-1998). Jedi Knight is my favourite game in the world. I then got ‘Quake III Arena’ which was a load of fun and ‘Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast’ which was a load of tosh when compared to the original.

My impression of the early 00’s was most FPS was mundane war games and it did not appeal to me as I preferred the style and feel of the games listed above. But even these types were rubbish. These included ‘Jedi Outcast’, ‘Jedi Academy’ and ‘Quake 4’ (2002-2005). I’ll admit that I have gotten enjoyment out these later games but they were nowhere near as good as their 90’s prequels that I’d loved so much. Some years ago (2007-2009) I decided to finally get the prequels to those first games I got as a kid, ‘Quake’ and ‘Dark Forces’. Being massive fans of the sequels which I’ve had for 10 years, I found the originals to be even better in some ways and wished I’d got them sooner.

During this time (2008) I also got Unreal Anthology where I was able to play ‘Unreal’ for the first time properly. In my eyes, ‘Unreal’ is the ultimate FPS and best of the lot. It’s an improvement upon ‘Quake II’ but it doesn’t fall into the pit of early 00’s where games seemed to come out of the factory upside down and bleeding to death such as ‘Jedi Outcast’ and ‘Quake 4'.

I did finally find a modern FPS which I loved as much as ‘Quake II’ and ‘Jedi Knight’ called ‘Killzone’ (2004). I have since become a colossal fan of the series, buying and enjoying immensely ‘Killzone 2’ and ‘Killzone 3’ (2009-2011). Killzone is a war game of course but it had the feel of Quake and to be was a grand mile apart from the other games of its type which I referred to as mundane war games including Medal of Honour, Call of Duty and Desert Storm to name a few.

Shub's PitEdit

You are right about what you said. I think from what you said, Shub-Niggurath's Pit could very well be Medieval. Atleast it will do until the day it gets challenged. Good work.

Also a little side note, please may you try to remember to sign your posts on Talk pages? It may not seem very important but it really is. Thanks.

Continue your brilliant work.

--Raadec 13:56, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Request Edit

Hi. I am writing because at this moment in time, I am the only active Administrator on QuakeWiki. This wiki isn't exactly the busiest Wiki and so I'm sure I'll handle it. Toxic has left the Wiki for at least a month due to personal agendas, thus me being the only administrator left for the time being. I am asking you if you would like to become an Admin. I must say this could only be temporary for we do have a third admin. But he is currently also inactive and I am following him up to see if he still plans on returning. I cannot fully predict the outcome but it is possible you could become a permanent admin. Due to QuakeWiki not being very busy, me and Toxic do not see any need for more than three Admins. Depending on Auguststorm's response will determine if we decide to make you a permanent or not. Please make your decision this circumstance. It is your choice.

--Raadec 22:34, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Quake Template Edit

Just curious, any reason you added Category:Skills to the Template:Quake I? Doesn't seem to be specific to just Quake. Auguststorm1945 01:17, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I'm opposed to adding it to each Quake game template, but given your success at template work (good job on the Level Infobox, nicely done!), would you like to create a Skills navigation template?
Also, I've got the guts of a similar template in the works for Ground Zero, which I'll add soon. Auguststorm1945 01:32, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Request Edit

I now know Auguststorm does indeed to come back at some point and so any scenario of a permanent position for you is unlikely. Me and Toxic were just talking and decided to just find out what stance August held on coming back. If you were to be admin, you’d really just be another set of eyes looking over the Wiki, just like you predicted. Of course I understand why you might like to turn it down as you do a lot of work and I don’t want anything to get in the way of your brilliant work. At this moment in time, I am the only active admin (August and Toxic are away) so that is the only reason I ask. QuakeWiki is very quiet for a Wikia so it’s not like I’ll be swamped. Whatever you decide, it is completely your choice. Shaleblade hasn’t been active for over a year but he is the adopter of QuakeWiki.

--Raadec 08:51, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Response (talk pages) Edit

Well, you can use the "leave message" button at the top of the page, yes. Alternatively, you should see next to each header the word Edit. Clicking on it allows you to edit that specific section. I actually prefer people to answer under their original header (as opposed to the clogging mess that Re:, Re:Re:, Re:Re:Re... results in).

Your message did go through; I'll probably modify the template a bit, though it's not terrible or anything. My apologies for not responding to it earlier.

Additionally, each time one responds under a previous message, it is normal to indent it slightly. For instance:

==Header Message==
Hello, I am the first message! ~~~~
:I am a later message, but the same user. ~~~~
::I am an even later message, from a different user. ~~~~
:::I am here for redundancy's sake. ~~~~

(Just being thorough; if you are already well aware of this, I'm not deliberately patronizing you.)

Hope this all helps; I'm glad to have you as part of the community. Auguststorm1945 22:12, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Odd. I'm not sure why that wouldn't go through. Auguststorm1945 22:39, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Current shift Edit

I'm doing some major category work right now - you may have noticed - so if you could avoid editing categories for the next few hours, it would help a lot. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Auguststorm1945 02:11, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I hadn't seen that. Thanks for catching it! Auguststorm1945 02:16, May 22, 2011 (UTC)
It wasn't an order, just a request - and your reasoning sounds solid. I'm just standardizing away. Auguststorm1945 02:43, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Characters? Edit

Sorry but can you tell me the reasons for making a character category? That might work for a game with a heavily indepth story, but not in a game like Quake. I don't see any point at all for this. Please enlighten me.

--Raadec 18:59, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Categories Edit

Seems a bit like overkill. There are only a few 'characters' and I wouldn't even count Shub-Niggurath as a character. She is the main enemy and we have a category for enemies. Quake has such a simple story, I wouldn't even consider Ranger to be a character. He is just the player (you and me). But August is the expert so we must not second guess him.

--Raadec 22:23, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Cheats Edit

Continue putting the cheats on their respective pages (i.e Quake, Quake 2...)

Then change the current cheats to list the games with hyperlinks which link to each game and jump straight to the cheats section on the pages. If you do not know how, then I will do it. I have been meaning to find out how and this is a great example to finally find out.

--Raadec 07:41, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Cheats Edit

Thanks for telling me. I'll be sure to use the # when I can from now on. Once again, I'd like to say thank you for your brilliant, unrivalled work on this wiki. The work you've done has transformed it. Thanks.

--Raadec 19:59, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Update Edit

Hi. Just a quick message to say that I have been checking on QuakeWiki every couple of days and your continued work is not going unnoticed. Just thought I'd let you know that even though I'm not as active as I normally am, please don't hesitate to ask for help, for whatever reason. I'm assuming things have been going very well lately. Well done on reaching Episode 3 on your Quake walkthroughs, you're shooting through them like lightning.

--Raadec 08:52, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

I think it's id Software, not Id. I think it would make more sense to keep it as id Software.

Profile Edit

Hey, tis ol' Toxic ere. Well i'l now returning to the wiki and i'm wondering If you want a box on your Profile. A Profile Box is a box around all your info which allows you to have a font colour and background colour of your choice. Look at myine and Raadec's page for what to look for. If you want one then give me a message of what colours you want and i'l make you one and put it on your profile and talk page.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 13:33, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

There you go to me looks a bit ugly but thats completly your taste. I think I will Darken it a bit.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 15:37, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes orange is a much better contrast to a black background. Both Raadec and I have a black backgroud with a red font but as you can tell my red is darker than his. I might actually change the font to a dark green, see what it looks like. Anyhow, hope you like the box and if you need anything else just leave me a message and I will try to get back as soon as I can.

Good to be Back

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 20:45, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

Oh the editor is temp. I put it on because me and Raadec are testing it out and seeing if the comunity like it or not. Please tell me what do you think, I think it looks simpler and easier to use.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 01:12, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

With the new editing tool we need august's opinion and then we should set up a poll first. To be honest I Like the new editor, I prefer to start moving forward with wikia than just leave it ahead. When people come to the wiki, people want to read about the world of quake but when they want to edit. With the new editor I believe it's easier to understand than the old one and to keep people here we must make things easier to understand. Not everyone get wiki like us, we have experence with wikis (well me and Raadec do, not sure about you, no offense) and we get things faster than others. But we must not stay on old things so I believe having this new editor is a good idea to keep it, but first lets get an opinion on what the communty think first.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 15:02, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Quake Levels Edit

On your levels for Quake Ii believe that you could put at the bottom of the page links to the next level and a link to the previous level. At the bottom I think its slightly more visible don't you think. As people will probually read to the bottom of the page they will spot the the next level link and click it. Also people won't actually know about the levels page unless the wiki tells them directly. So on the Quake Page I shall put the category page for you and you can put the links at the bottom of the page, okay.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 15:26, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thats great, perfect just what we need. Now just get that on every level page and your sorted.

Nice work

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 17:06, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Don't fret, Will take a look at the template and see what I can do okay. Whilst i'm doing that have a look at Quake 3 Bots and tell me what you think of my edits.

Now lets have a looky

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 18:44, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

There done and dusted, took me a while but I finally figured the code needed. It was text-align:center. I got it working though so sorted

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 19:19, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Your very welcome, I think that Align simply aligned the box not the text.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 19:27, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

No, I think it would be better if we just listed the level exits on the page in links rather than make a load of boxes for or clutter up the box.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 19:38, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

No, you haven't got it wrong. Thats exactly how it should be, I mean look at the consquences of an untidy wiki, Sort of crumples on itself. Also you are now welcome to the 1500 edits badge if you like.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 19:44, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Naa, leave it as it is, it's fine. Congratz on getting over 1500 edits, I think you should have the highest amount of edits now. Not bad for a non-admin. Anyhow while I was adding the badge I also protected you user page from unregistered users, don't want any gits trying to vandal your page now.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 19:54, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, Quality over quantity is best but you remember how quiet this wiki is. Getting such massive amounts of edits on Quake Wiki is remarmkable, specially in such a short time. To be honest, even though we have badges the badges arn't as personalisable as wanted them to be so I have to make some to fill in the gap i'm afraid. But people like the banners apart from August, being his grumpy self, refuses to have the banners.

Good Point though

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 20:18, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, thats what I have tried to do. I used Facebook myspace and others such as Quake 3 Arena chat and also Quake live. It's a slow progress but eventually people will take notice, we just have to wait i'm afraid.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 20:18, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

The thing is Death is that although me and Raadec are dedicated, we have other things in life to handle. We can't don't evverything everyday, thats simply impossible. Sure without me and Raadec this wiki would still be where I found it, Dead and left in a dump. Death you really should have seen the state of this wiki before me and Raadec got it. It was a complete mess. Back then I think me and Raadec when on every day for months to get this back sorted and cleaned up. After the new change the wiki sort of drifted if you get me. We had other things to do and we couldn't be on every day so we simply watched. Raadec was more dedicated than me creating more and more pages and more info. I did jobs here and there but not loads. Then People started noticing the wiki so I sort of stuck around to get it sorted. It's been good progress since, and we are extremely happy with the work you have been doing. It's showed us people actually give a crap nowadays.

Thank you

RE:Reasoning behind Quake 3 Arena vs Quake III Arena Edit

Well we have decided to use digits (2/3) in the page titles because it when people search for games, they will type Quake 2 and not Quake II. We use roman numerals for links and text on the page because we might as well. We have not thought about it and we might decide to change it all to roman numerals sometime.

--Raadec 16:00, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

 ??? Edit

Please undo everything you did< we cannot edit redirected pages....

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 16:01, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

I have absolutly no clue whatsoever

We haven't really thought about and whilst it may make sense, it is not exactly the most important thing to be thinking of.

--Raadec 16:10, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

And whilst Quake II and Quake III might someday have roman numerals, Quake 4 is called Quake 4 and not Quake IV. Just a reminder.

--Raadec 16:15, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks now do Quake 2 and 4 please

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 16:17, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

That's one way to look at it, you know nothing about the other games so stay off them, haha.

No but seriously, don't worry about it. We all make mistakes and you were only trying to help. It was an accident and think no more of it.

Quake Wiki Proposistion Edit

Hello Deathstalker666, It's me TeriffiedToxic and I have a proposistion for you that I would like you to accept. Now yes today you pulled a bit of a stupid act with Redirects but hell it could have happenend to anyone. Please remember next time when renaming pages do not have create redirect box on. Right recently I have removed Shaleblades Sysop abilities, simply because he was inactive for over a year. We not dedication not abandonment. Thats why as a team, both Raadec and I have decided for you to chose to Sysop, more commonly known as a Adminstrator. Now being an admin comes with responsobilites. Those include dedication to the wiki with no leaves unless others have been notified. Also you will have more power than a normal user, so we ask you not to abuse them and block every person you don't like. Now when I ask for an answer I do want a simple solid anwer. No Maybe or don't really care okay, Yes or no. I might seem rude but I have to be strict when it comes to things like this. Remember it ain't all bad, you've seen what Raadec and I have done to the wiki in the year and you will be a very helpful addition. Now you can resume doing the maps until you have done then I will tell you what your responsiblities when you accept.

Thank you for you patience and we await you answer.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 17:23, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Response to Earlier message

Death we understand you feel. When I first started helping the wiki I had next to no experence with wikis. The mistakes I made were overboard and almost broke a wiki's programming twice. Beleive me, the human race is the most accident prone race in the universe. Everyone makes mistakes, no one can judge you for that. It's more if you can learn from your mistakes that whether or not you would make a good Sysop. You have learn't what to do next time it comes to renaming pages, That makes a clever person. So stop acting like you might destroy the wiki, you won't, trust me.

If your wondering what you shall do as an admin, you will be watching the wiki for spammers and remove them instantly. All other things you do come second to that. You can do whatever you please in other areas such as information but if there is a spammer/hacker on the loose. We need somone to that and I have to watch templates and I can't be on the wiki all the time. Also Raadec is information man and makes sure grammer and wiki standards are correct.

It is up to you whether you decide so i hope this has cleared up your problems

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 17:23, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Well you have become an admin so please continue what you were doing and don't forget your duties.

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 18:47, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Haven't a clue, does it do any harm to the page at all. If it doesn't leave it, if it does i'l have a look.

Wonder what it is?

TeriffiedToxic Learning to quickscope 18:53, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

No, I wouldn't worry about it, the wiki rules need updating anyway, there have been there for quite a while so don't fret.

I'l update them when I get chance.

TeriffiedToxic BBBird, Bird is the word! 00:55, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

I'm back & the Mainpage Edit

This message is to both Toxic and Death.

Hey there. I've had a quick look over what has been done on Quake wiki (albeit a rather light over view) in the past 2 weeks. Of course the Main Page is the first thing that I see and my opinion is that there is a few things added there which are really unnecessary.

The overall additions to the Introduction are good but I do not see any need for a link to the Doom wiki. I don’t want you thinking that I want the paragraph to be just as I wrote it, I welcome the changes but the Doom wiki link, right there on the very front page of Quake wiki seems a bit out. We have a Doom page and on a wiki for Quake, that is enough.

The other thing is the Administrators section where you have written a sentence about Shaleblade’s departure. This again is completely surplus since he is completely gone and finished and has proved very clearly he wants nothing to do with the wiki, thus he has no place anywhere.

Also, do we not want August's name in the Introduction? Since I’ve only just returned I am not going to run over your edits on my own and would prefer you to look over the points I have made and consider them. Please come back to me with your agreements and/or counter-arguments so that we can help improve the wiki even more.

I can see you have been hard at work in my absence and I am looking forward to returning to the wiki in a far more active posture than what I have been in the past few months.

--Raadec 12:30, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Mainpage and Walkthroughs Edit

Main Page

Everything we do might or might not be for the good of the wiki. But everything we do is always a step forwards. I too make mistakes but when I do, I either realise and correct when I realise my self and/or if someone points it out to me. I didn't want to just change your edits on my own until I talked to you but if you feel the same way as me, you won't mind if I edit your edits. I think you've contribution to the main page is good and I will edit around the good parts. Please feel free to edit my edits (this is the proper way to making it perfect).

I say we should stick with the 100% option. I agree the fast walkthrough might be useful to some. But the fast walkthrough is aimed at people who want to finished as quickly as possible. BUT I do have an idea which might be partly similar to what you are talking about. Prehaps we could have Summery section for each level which lists a certain number of bullet points, blandly revealing what to do in each level to reach the end without the location of monsters and items. A sort of spoiler free walkthough. Continue with the walkthroughs as you have been but consider adding a Summery Spoiler-Free walkthrough on each page detailing how to get from the start to finish as simply as possible.

--Raadec 22:29, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Shaleblade and August Edit

Shaleblade (as far as I know) was active on this wiki for about 6 months and I'm not sure if we was even that active. He hasn't made an edit or logged on for over a year and thus, me and Toxic consider him non-existent as far as the wiki is concerned.

August is a grand Admin but he is not very active at all times. He likes to be involed and his opinion heard but we can only make decesions between the active Admins at a certain time. For instance, even if I'm not editing, I am still watching over edits made by new users and looking for spam.

--Raadec 22:35, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Spoiler Free Walkthrough Edit

Please take a look at E1M1: The Slipgate Complex where I have done an example of a Spoiler Free Walkthrough. My first idea was to have it at the top as it will only ever be a few bullet points and gives a brief summery of the level for all visitors. Visitors can then choose whether they just need a little hint from the Spoiler Free Walkthrough or if they then want to go deep into the proper Walkthrough to find certain items and/or the secrets further down.

I don't think we should limit each Spoiler Free Walkthrough to a certain amount of bullet points. Try to keep them as simple and short as possible (whilst still making it clear where to go). So in other words, short levels will only have a few bullet points in their Spoiler Free Walkthrough whilst long levels will have more bullet points.

Tell me what you think and well done on thinking up about the short walkthrough idea.

Keep up the brilliant work.

--Raadec 09:20, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

p.s as for Shaleblade, a year is just too long (without explanation). Toxic decided to depart him and there's no need to worry about it.

Please change the title to what you see fit. After you pointed out, I too think Spoiler Free is the wrong name for it. People who use it will just want to know where to go next. Prehaps something like Quick Navigation or Basic Walkthrough. I will leave it to you to come up with an adequate name.

--Raadec 17:28, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think Easy Level Completion is a good choice purely because Easy is also a difficulty and visitors might mistake it for a walkthrough on Easy difficulty. Prehaps Quick Level Compeletion?

Q1 E4 vids. Edit

Hey I threw up some videos for the last couple e4 levels in quake 1 as they are probably the hardest and there should be something on those pages for people to figure them out. They have all the secrets, but I use the darkplaces sourceports and I've never edited a wiki before so if there are any problems just take them down. I just figured for now, and since I just did a video run of the whole game, I would just put them there untill a more detailed walkthrough gets written up, I dont really have the time now to write anything up but maybe in the future, so if you see me editing those pages its me just trying to figure out how to edit, and I'll keep all my tinkering to those pages, as they are pretty much blank.Tool of Isis 16:05, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I totally agree that they should be recorded in gl quake and the format for the walkthroughs are great I used them in finding most the secrets in my playthroughs recently, the only difference is I'm using darkplaces and playing on normal, (not sure if your videos are of normal mode or harder) I only added these videos as sort of a placeholder until the write ups or videos can be posted should anyone stop by looking for information about these particularly tricky series of levels. I do have the whole game, on normal difficulty posted online now, each episode and level has each secret found and it uses the darkplaces source port which I think is great. Maybe we can use these videos to create a section in the wiki about source ports(if there is not one already). I think It will raise alot of eyebrows to show how modern quake can look yet still retain the feel, I think posting videos of the source ports, and maybe step by step instructions on installing them will bring alot of new gamers, who are maybe put off by the way gl quake looks, to the quake world.

But anyway, like I said I just figured I'd post those vids for anyone stopping by looking for strategy in the meantime. You can remove them if you like and post your own, as I agree completly that the format should be identacle throughout, and the work up to E4M5 was superb.Tool of Isis 19:02, July 12, 2011 (UTC)

Darkplaces Walkthrough Edit

Concerning the Darkplaces walkthrough. I think it would be good to have a video showing what Darkplaces looks like but I'm not sure about a whole video walkthrough for it when the one you have been making is superb enough on its own. But as far as I know, these different versions are exactly the same game with different graphics. Since you know more about them, tell me what you think and decide whether you think having a whole new walkthrough on Darkplaces is worth it just to appeal to the few people who play on Darkplaces and (as much as I can tell)should be able to follow your videos on GL just as easy.

--Raadec 08:00, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Well I did once delete some stupid Simpson Mod page that some idiot put up. But that was mainly because the idiot in question made the page and then put a single sentance and left it like that. Do you know anything about mods? And it's deciding what is important. Prehaps mods that are widely used but I would like avoid any rubbish mods made by jokers. I've never used a mod on Quake and so have no idea. Prehaps if you ask Toxic and see what he thinks on the subject.

As for the darkplaces videos, leave them how they are for now (apart from the ones you need to replace with your own videos). I'll do some research into it and decide then.

--Raadec 18:58, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Sounds all very good. But you're right, stick with the walkthroughs for Quake for now, since you're almost finished. Good luck with finding that last enemy.

Watch out for idiots. I've just blocked someone who removed all the content on Quake. Of course, rollbacking is simple but users who clearly have no intention on doing good for the wiki should not have a second chance to waste our time. If you do find anyone being a muppet, block them for 1 year or tell me if you're not sure how.

--Raadec 08:19, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Well done, you did it correct. Just keep an eye of for it.

Also, thanks for your work on the News page.

RE:Mods Edit

When i comes to mods, the wiki regulations get a bit hazy. We allow only popular mods. Do you know about when id Software released the quake 3 code. Some company made Open Arena, a extremely popular game nowadays. Having played open arena myself I can say it is a really good game. I can say that I really want to keep it. When it comes to other mods i'm not sure. I think the policy should be that we only allow really popular mods on the wiki. I mean the simpsons mod will not be put on the wiki because it has virus checks on it. When it comes to mods for other games I think you should consult Raadec.

Argue and Banning Edit

You're right, I have no idea how to fix it :)

I'm not sure if you are referring to this or not but I can be difficult when it comes to change. For example, sometime last year August tried to change the Main page but I kept changing it back. Only after a lot of time and arguing did we find something we both liked. And because I we both put our own ideas together in and argue and counter-argue with those ideas did we create a much better Main page than the one we used to have.

Any conflicts here are in good nature and are in the name of making aspects of the wiki better than they would ever be if just one person puts his idea in. Also, I've decided to make a rule up regarding banning. This nitwit has made me decide to make something more structured than a blind 1 year ban for anything. Make note of the following as a quick reference guide for the time being, before I put it in stone on the proper page. The reason I've done this is because it is not good practise just to ban someone for a year straight away and even though I think that is good, as an admin, we must be careful.

VERBAL Warning: A friendly explanation about any wrong doing. FINAL Warning: A non-friendly warning, telling the user to be careful and any more rule breaking will result in a SMALL Ban. SMALL Ban: 1 Month ban for not listening to a FINAL Warning. LARGE Ban: 1 Year ban for breaking the rules after returning from a SMALL Ban. 1) Poor grammar, fake and irrelevant information on pages (such as fan made speculation) = a VERBAL warning, telling the user about what he has done wrong and to let him know it is not aloud. If the user breaks the rules again, give him a FINAL Warning. 2) Any sort of vandalism such as replacing information with irrelevant nonsense or messing up templates = a FINAL Warning. 3) Posting adverts for other sites = LARGE BAN 3) If a user breaks the rules at all after a FINAL Warning = SMALL Ban.

Should be easy to understand, this is just a first draft. Say if you any questions or ideas to help improve it.

--Raadec 13:01, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

An example of 3 is a few months ago, some tit spammed all the template pages with giant pictures of a "literally gay" advert for another Wikia. BUT I have decided to take your suggestion and since we are going to give vandals a warning before ban, advertisers should also get a warning.

Sorry about the mess of my last post. I will word it better below (sorry I am using your talk page for my drafts but it is relevant as you of all people need to know this)

1) Poor grammar and irrelevant posts but which are written in good-faith (such as fan speculation) = FORMAL WARNING

2) Vandalism of any kind and posts not written in good-faith = FINAL WARNING

  • If a user ignores a FORMAL WARNING, he/she will get a FINAL WARNING.
  • If a user ignores a FINAL WARNING, he/she will get a LIGHT BAN.
  • If the user returns after a LIGHT BAN and still continues to break the rules, he/she will get a HEAVY BAN.

Types of punishment

FORMAL WARNING (formally VERBAL WARNING) = Friendly revelation of what the user has done wrong and tell him/her to avoid doing so again.

FINAL WARNING = Unfriendly warning to the user that he is on thin ice and one more mistake will result in a LIGHT BAN.

LIGHT BAN (formally SMALL BAN) = User is blocked for 1 month.

HEAVY BAN (formally LARGE BAN) = User is blocked for 1 year.

--Raadec 14:46, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

I've been looking at the guy who likes to compare everthing to Doom 3. Be careful of him and be prepared to give him a FORMAL WARNING if he continues. His posts are thick and unneeded. I've noticed you've asked him to explain him self which is very good of you.

Also, I have adopted a new Wikia, I am wondering if you like Titanic. If you do, would you like to join me on Titanic Wiki? I am still VERY LOYAL to QuakeWiki and will continue to monitor posts but I will also be working on TitanicWiki.

--Raadec 22:44, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Doom 3 Comparisons and Other topics Edit

No worries about the Titanic Wiki. I don't know what your talking about a sequel, there about 50 movies but as far as I know, they all just tell the sinking. But anyways, that is not important.

My view on Mods is neutral since I don’t play them so have nothing to say about them. I’m going to go with what Toxic told you. You seem to have some know-how about Mods but even you don’t seem to be able to decide which Mods we’d include if/when we decide to do so. I will discuss with Toxic more deeply about the topic and I’ll keep you in touch.

I agree, comparing things to other things from different games is useless and this guy is clearly a Doom 3 fanboy who has stumbled upon QuakeWiki and is making very poor edits without thinking about anything other than Doom 3. I’ve sent him a warning but like you said, there is no guarantee that he will see my message. Since he does not have an account, it only proves further he had little care for the quality of his edits. I have noticed you’ve been reversing his edits which is good. We can’t have useless edits dotted everywhere.

--Raadec 18:38, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Again, you're better off asking your toast about mods, they will be able to help you alot more than I can. I really have no idea about important mods or stupid mods.

Also, that guy compared Scrag to Casper to Friendly Ghost so I've banned him for 6 months. I am pretty sure it's the same vandal from last week. Just keep banning any IP address that spams. I'm going to put back a message advising people to make accounts before editing. Ignore my rules for the time being and assume it's the same guy.

Protection Edit

What are your views on protecting the Wiki from unregistered users?

--Raadec 15:51, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea about what you’re talking about regarding people hacking and overriding protection. But anyways. You're right on both fronts regarding that protecting the wiki will stop the small time losers who have nothing better to do in their sad pathetic existences than to vandalise a wiki (a small one at that). And it will only affect the small time editors who don’t bother making an account but have only made small changes. I do think forcing people who do want to edit to make an account we get them more involved. Of course, protecting a wiki is heavily ill-advised and I want to put a lot of time in thinking it over.

Ps, do you have MSN?

Add if you don't mind. Tell me when you have done so as it is not my current account and I will tell you my current account on MSN/WLM. If you don't want to do so, I'll understand.

--Raadec 07:43, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

In case some idiot adds me too. I don't care who adds my old account but this way, I can tell you my current account and no one else will be able to find out. I don't want any old idiot (such as the spammer loser) knowing it.

--Raadec 14:53, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

E4M5 Edit

If you are talking about jumping on the polls without unlocking the bridge at the end (to enter the secret level), then it's just a case of timing and jumping the right distabnce between the polls. Also make sure you have the Thunderbolt or Super Nailgun ready to kill the Vore around the corner. I'm sure you're aware that unlocking the bridge with the silver key closes off the hidden level.

As a veteren player, I always go for the secret levels on Quake but I think you should say the next level is both E4M6 and the secret level as they both do lead on from E4M5.

Also, I have no message that you've added me. This is my first new contact since getting the new MSN so I'm not sure if it is just a message that pops up. I will look how I accept you and you make sure you spelled it right. What is the first letter in your account so I know what to look out for?

--Raadec 08:56, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

I've had a look at Generations and it seems pretty legit. I don't see any reason to not have it on QuakeWiki. I have yet to talk to Toxic. I am starting to think we should just include mods but only stick to ones that have been uploaded to official sites.

As for WLM, I have been on my old account multiple times and there is no message telling me that you've added me. I will try to find out what's wrong. My old account is fairly different to my new one so I assume that without use, my old account defaulted to WLM's new setting when it changed so it's completely different to me.

Also I've always assumed you lived in the States because you normaly edit in the middle of the night/early morning here (England). If I am right then ofcourse it will be more difficult to be on at the same time.

And you're just thinking up stories in your head. We are admins and we are helping to mould QuakeWiki to be better and so I like it when you throw me loads of stuff because it helps us move forward.

Also, do you mean to use that QuakeWiki chat? It would be helpful if we were on at the same time.

--Raadec 09:29, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

I thought there was a few huge sites full of tested and well used Mods. I hate to repeat myself but I really have no idea about Mods. If there is anything on this Wikia I am no help for, it’s Quake Wars and Mods.

My version of WLM is 15.4.3508.1109

I usually come on QuakeWiki in the mourning [8 to 12 when it’s 3 to 7 at you]. We should try to get on at the same time and try out Quakewiki chat. Then perhaps we can sort out MSN.

--Raadec 09:52, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, just to leave a quick message. During this period of time it is offically a very important time for me, I'm on holiday, i'm going to start 6th form and in a couple of weeks I go in for my exam results. So i've got little time to be seriously editing. I do try to edit every now and again but mostly I observe the wiki and keep an eye on things. Also Raadec fill me up on things that happens when i'm not on via WLM which by your talk pages your trying to sort out. BTW either you or Raadec have prob spelled the email address wrong. It don't matter what version you have you can still add other address's on the really old messenger. Also the UK is a small place so we don't have time zones since the entire country is in 1 timeline and thats Greenwich meridian. And we don't live in the same place. Raadec lives in the midlands, I live more north west.

Nice to see the wiki still running.

Templates Edit

Thanks for the help. I have already tried the class="collapsible collapsed" and it works on some wikis, but not on Wolfenstein wiki. Maybe It has a different code. Supramarine 12:51, November 16, 2011 (UTC)

Come on MSN Edit

I'm on MSN. You only edited a minute ago so you should still be on QuakeWiki. I look forward to seeing you :)

--Raadec 18:33, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Ugh, I missed you! Tomorrow I will see if you are on MSN and we can try to talk. Because of Thanksgiving I am free for the rest of the week. My message system is also not working, I had to look at past days to even know I got a new message. That may be part of the reason I never saw this, plus the fact that I usually had to shut off the exact moment I stopped editing and thus would not see something a minute later even. Like I said, I will check tomorrow around my noon. We haven't talked in a while and it would be nice to catch up! The Dopefish Lives! 03:42, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

My Resignation? :\ perhaps... Edit

I think it’s come to an end for me, this wiki. I’ve been monitoring posts for the past few weeks, getting rid of useless posts. But as with you and Toxic, I think it’s time to step back. I’ve been working at like 0.1% but now I feel like going to 0%, if you get my meaning. We’ve transformed it from nothing to something, what little something it has become anyway, but there isn’t much more we can do, time to leave it to its self. That however does bring up one issue, with me gone; QuakeWiki will have nothing to stop it being torn apart, if that it is what comes of it. I realise you are busy with School like Toxic like I am with work, but the job is yours if you want it. We should really get on MSN sometime if you’re still on it and discuss what we could do. If not, we can communicate like this on Talk. Tell me what you think. --Raadec 19:53, February 2, 2012 (UTC)
