Mine Engineering is a secret level in of Unit 1 of Ground Zero, and the only secret level in either of the two official Mission Packs. This is a short level, but contains a unique hazard. The destruction of the Tectonic Stabilizer is causing earthquakes and lava eruptions, and this area is beset by continually rising lava. You must run through the level to stay ahead of the rising lava, fighting your way through the Strogg - and avoiding other hazards such as collapsing pillars and bridges.
The lava will begin to rise as soon as you start to climb the ladder immediately in front of you at the start of the level (or if you jump). It will continue to do so, eventually filling the entire level, so you must keep moving to stay ahead. All of the enemies on the ground will eventually be killed by the lava even if you do not kill them yourself; many of the Strogg will be killed by collapsing pillars as well.
The rate of the lava rising seems to be based upon on the speed at which the player moves through the level; if the player's progress is slow, the lava seems to slow down to give the player more of a chance. However, it will keep rising.
As a reward for finding and escaping this secret level, you can collect a Chainfist near the exit.

Secrets
There are no official secrets on this level. However, by making slight detours from the main path you can collect a suit of Body Armor (from the room where you first see an Enforcer) and an Adrenaline (from the cavern in which you first encounter Flyers). But if you want to collect these items, do it quickly - the lava keeps rising.
