The Outer Compound is the first level of Unit 2 of The Reckoning. Here, Joker finally catches up with his squad, only to see them slaughtered in a Strogg ambush. He has no choice but the carry on with their objective. His first task is to collect a Data CD from the TCM carcasses, then find a way into the Inner Compound.

Two new arrivals will be introduced by Hyper Blaster Guards and Repair Bots in this level, in later levels, Ripper Guards and Laser Guards join the forces of Strogg in Unit 2.

A section of the facility has been ruined due to the crash landing of a Drop Pod called Rampage; an Easter Egg based on Xatrix Entertainment Inc's previous work, Redneck Rampage.

There is a glitch on this map: if you get the data CD, then enter the next level, the Inner Compound, the game will tell you that you didn't get the data CD and you need to go back and get it.

Secrets

  • #1) In the heavily damaged room, shoot the ceiling in the spot that sparks to create the stepping stones you need to get on top of the metal beam. Above, you will find a Grenade Launcher.
  • #2) In the same area, head down the corridor to find a section of wall that juts out. Press against it to reveal some Adrenaline.
  • #3) In the area with the red laser fences, there is a hole in the floor in the upper section, close to a staircase. There is a switch over the stairs. Shoot it and quickly drop down the hole to reveal that a wall panel has temporarily opened. In there, you will find a DualFire Damage power-up.
  • #4) Similar to the above, as you prepare to drop into the room with the console that deactivates the laser fence, there is a switch that you can shoot to get two Stimpacks. Shoot it and rapidly drop down—underneath the rising slope, there is a hidden compartment with an Energy Armor inside.
