PLUSGrenade is a modification for Quake made by Niklas Angare. This modification features a few alternate modes for the Grenade Launcher that can be toggled by hitting the button for said Weapon. If there is not enough Ammo for the alternate mode, a normal grenade will be fired.
The ProxGrenade works somewhat like the regular grenade, except that it costs 5 Rockets. If it does not directly hit an opponent, but instead bounces off a surface, the 5 Rockets can be taken by any player. Note that Quake has a limitation whereby this only works when the grenade is not touching anything, meaning a grenade bouncing along the ground cannot be reclaimed. Once settled, the grenade will wait four seconds and then activate itself. After said point, anything that crosses its path will trigger the explosion of the grenade. The ProxGrenade will also automatically explode after 30 seconds.
There is also a tertiary mode, the LavaGrenade. Much like a MIRV, the grenade will break apart into a number of explosive Lavaballs (they work mechanically like grenades) that moves around rather chaotically and can explode at any random point (including in midair). The player can use Impulses 230-239 to set the specific number of Lavaballs they desire, going from 0 to 9, with 5 being the default. This mode costs 3 Cells per Lavaball (meaning 9 will cost 27) in addition to the normal grenade cost.
The ProxGrenade has a bug whereby Monsters can pick up the Rockets if the player bounces the projectiles around them. This is an issue as the game does not know how to handle this, resulting in the player being dumped to the Console.
