The earliest shareware release 0.91 was completed on June 22, 1996 and released the following day after being compiled single-handedly by John Romero. It contains only single episode — Episode 1: Dimension of the Doomed.
On June 24, 1996 Patch 0.92 was released, which contains various fixes.

Menus[]
- Multiplayer support is implimented, unlike Beta3, but has early menu layout. Also, it's not possible to change Player's skin.
- The font in menu uses the one from Beta3.

Levels are mostly identical to the final ones and have support of Deathmatch mode.
