—Mission briefing

The Receiving Center is a support facility next to the Processing Plant, which handles incoming and outgoing cargo, and also connects to the Mine complex via a service elevator.

The facility features several varieties of cargo hauling equipment, several lava pools, and an outdoor area where the scenic waterfall conceals an intriguing secret.

This level marks the first appearance of the Brains, and the first opportunity to acquire the Railgun.

Secrets

  • #1) After the encounter with Brains and activating a switch guarded by a Gladiator, head up the platforms the switch activated and you will notice the middle panel of wall in front of you is different from the other 2. Simply walk up to this wall and touch it to lower it, revealing a suit of Combat Armor, and two boxes of Bullets and Rockets.
  • #2) After coming back out into the starting area, go through to the outside room that was previously blocked by the red lasers (they will be deactivated at this point). Fall off the walkway down into the water and head into the secret room down here to find Health, Grenades, and a new weapon: the Railgun!
  • #3) In this same area, head back up onto the walkway you previously dropped down from and you will notice what seems to be a rather low-hanging waterfall. You can either strafe jump up there with precise timing, or just rocket jump your way over to it. Drop down into the pool of water up here to find the second secret map of the game, Sudden Death.
  • #4) THIRD VISIT: After coming back from Processing Plant, cross the two moving platforms which lead to the Unit Exit. Just across from the Unit Exit button, turn around and you will see a hidden Shootable Button just across from it and to the right. Shooting this button will lower the recessed wall at the bend in the path (where the Flyer came down from), revealing a secret room with Shells and Health.
