Private Short is a character featured in Quake IV. He is a member of Kodiak Squad in the Space Marine Corps and participates in the Second Invasion of Stroggos.

Short is seen working with Tech Cossey aboard the USS Hannibal on pipes and wires. When Corporal Kane approaches them, Short hurts himself on one of the devices, to which Cossey tells him the systems are finicky, while Short calls them ancient. Speaking of ancient, Cossey claims his grandfather served on the ship, further supporting his statement.
