Tom Mustaine is a game designer who co-founded Hipnotic Software in 1996. He was one of the level designers for their company’s first project: Scourge of Armagon. He has also gone by the alias Paradox.
Starting on the Intellivision as a gamer, Mustaine started trying to make his own content on the Commodore 64. Being a fan of the Commodore Amiga, he found serious development too complicated to bother with. He was convinced to switch to PC with the release of Wolfenstein 3D. Hearing rumors about Doom, Mustaine soon found himself intrigued enough to design levels.
Tom Mustaine has created a level for the Master Levels for Doom II known as Paradox, his first notable level. He also created some of the maps and a lot of the music in TNT: Evilution. He also had a heavy hand in the creation of Perdition's Gate, Hell to Pay, Icarus: Alien Vanguard, and Memento Mori.
On his old website, he claimed that he "doesn't have a famous brother named Dave" (meaning the Megadeth founder/frontman.)
Mustaine often went driving, whereby he would get ideas for his levels.
In 2009, Tom Mustaine worked on Doom Resurrection, a mobile tie-in to Doom 3.
