The Toxic Waste Dump is where the toxic waste produced by the Strogg power plant is stored. The area consists predominantly of corroded metal and features numerous pools and canals filled with flesh-dissolving slime reminiscent of that in Doom, as well as many large pipes passing through most of the rooms.

During the second visit to this level, the Strogg have erected several small barricades in a last desperate attempt to stop the human marine.

Secrets

  • Pc icon #1) When you get to the Enviro-Suit, follow the path to the right until you reach the end, over a pool of Slime. Activate the enviro-suit and jump in to find an Adrenaline, an Invulnerability and some Armor Shards. If you're quick, you can reach the second secret - see below - before your Enviro-Suit runs out.
  • Pc icon #2) While still in the pool of slime, swim back up to underneath the walkway and follow the path along the channel of shallow slime. Go straight down this path all the way to the end, where you must take a right turn, then continue following the path until you get to a hidden secret area, containing another Enviro-Suit, Armor Shards, and Cells.

PSX version:

  • PS1 icon #1) In the first room beyond the slime-filled corridor in the starting area, there are two grills on the wall. One of them is recessed; shoot it to reveal a chamber containing rockets, a medikit, and also a Gladiator on some difficulty levels.
  • PS1 icon #2) From the high walkway above the large channel of slime, drop down onto the side of the channel, then wade through the slime to reach a ledge containing Body Armor. In the PSX version, there is no Enviro-Suit to be found by this point, so you should try to make the journey as quickly as possible.

Differences in the PSX version

  • Different enemy count and secrets (see above).
  • Whereas in the PC version the player returns to this level after visiting Pumping Station 1 and 2, the player does not do so in the PSX version. Instead, a new level called Waste Disposal Area exists in the PSX version, which is based upon the sections of the Toxic Waste Dump that the player would visit after completing their objectives in the two Pumping Stations, but is not directly connected to the rest of Toxic Waste Dump.
