Bitterman was meant to land just outside the Big Gun area with plans to enter and destroy it. Because of the Big Gun's EMP attack, however, Bitterman lost control of his pod and was flung miles away beyond the outskirts to an outer defence base. Now Bitterman must walk the extra mile whilst completing other objectives on the way to destroy the Big Gun.
The primary objective in this Unit is to link up the Strogg Base's communication systems with the command ship in orbit, so that he can receive updated combat situation reports and objectives.

Trivia[]
- This is the only unit present in the playable demo PC version. It contains the first seven weapons as well as the Tank as the final boss.
- The PSX demo version only contains a heavily modified version of the level Comm Center.
- In the Playstation version of Quake II, this Unit takes the form of Mission 1. The player's primary objective remains the same. However, the campaign begins with a level Strogg Outpost that isn't present in the PC campaign, and the secret level Lost Station is absent.
